ACT Sustainable Household Scheme
ACT residents may be able to secure a zero-interest loan on a solar installation through the Sustainable Household Scheme. This government incentive helps Canberra residents improve their home’s energy efficiency while reducing their environmental impact.

Eligibility for the Sustainable Household Scheme
According to the ACT government, in order to be eligible, participants must:
- Own the property that they are planning to install the systems at.
- Be a standalone property or a unit titled property.
- Have an Unimproved Value (UV) for the property in 2021-2021 of less than $750,000 for non-unit titled dwellings and stand-alone unit titled dwellings based on the entitlement percentage of the unit. A UV of $200,000 may be applicable to unit titled multi-storey apartment buildings.

About the Sustainable Household Scheme in ACT
As mentioned above, this ACT government incentive allows eligible homeowners to borrow up to $15,000 with zero interest or upfront costs for rooftop solar panels, electric heating and cooling systems, battery storage systems, and other energy efficiency measures.
Eligible participants may have the option of installing one solar system or a bundle of systems. Altogether, they can be valued at up to $15,000. The allotted amount can vary depending on your loan application credit check. Interest on funds borrowed above the limit may be applicable.
