What is the Virtual Power Plant Rebate Program?
The Virtual Power Plant Rebate program focuses on making it easier for Victorian residents to join a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
Per the VIC government, the VPP program is currently offering a solar battery rebate to eligible residents at a fixed rate of up to $4,174. Eligible Victorians that take part in an approved VPP program can use this rebate towards the upfront cost of a solar battery and the installation of the unit.
It would be wise to research which approved VPP program best suits your household and maximises your current benefits. For a list of all approved VPP programs, the VIC government offers a page dedicated to VPPs.
What is a Virtual Power Plant (VPP)?
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) offers Victorian residents the opportunity to manage, create, and share power together.
VPPs deliver an array of different networks for solar battery storage systems to share power. Each individual network may offer unique benefits and program structures that integrate a communal power sharing system with other Victorians by way of smart technology.
Excess solar energy produced by eligible participants is stored in the battery. When there is a high demand for electricity this power can be fed into the VPP network, which in turn can result in fewer disruptions and more stability.
