About The Home Battery Scheme in SA

The Home Battery Scheme in SA provides eligible South Australians access to low interest loans and direct subsidies to help pay for a new battery system.

This subsidy is offered to all of South Australia and is calculated on the kilowatt-hour (kWh) capacity of the battery system. Energy Concession Holders may be eligible to receive a higher subsidy which can benefit low-income households that want to make the switch to solar.

Per the SA Government website, the current Home Battery Scheme subsidy levels are as followed:

  • Energy concession holder ($250 per kWh)
  • All other households ($150 per kWh)
  • Maximum subsidy per battery system installation ($2,000)

Home Battery Scheme Loan

Low interest loans are subject to credit approval. Be sure to check the SA government website for eligibility requirements.

Households applying for the subsidy can send their loan application to the Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s administrator of the Home Battery Scheme subsidy and finance, Plenti.

The Home Battery Scheme Eligibility

There are a number of different eligibility criteria you need to consider before applying for The Home Battery Scheme in SA. Some of these criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • Owning a home in South Australia;
  • Using a qualified system provider for the battery system installation;
  • Battery system must be Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capable;

Supporting documents and other eligibility criteria are available on the The Home Battery Scheme government website. The SA Government is also working with industry to ensure that an array of battery systems are available for installation through The Home Battery Scheme.
