What is the Solar for Low Income Households Program?
According to the NSW government, these 3kW solar systems can help residents achieve long-term savings on their energy bills by up to $600 per year.
The eligibility criteria for this offer includes, but is not limited to:
- Forgo the low-income household rebate for 10 years
- Hold a valid Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card or Pensioner Concession Card
- Own a home
- Resident must not have a solar system currently installed
- Agree to your electricity retailer sending your bills to the NSW government
- Arrange for the installation of a smart meter and cover the costs associated
Eligible participants in this program can choose to upsize their 3kW solar system to a maximum of 6kW but will be responsible for any additional costs associated with upsizing past the free 3kW mark. A larger system may be more beneficial for your household if you consume a majority of your electricity during the day.
