What is the ACT Next-Gen Energy Storage Program?

The Next-Gen Energy Storage program supports the development of solar energy storage in Canberra and the rest of ACT. This rebate is available for both households and businesses that have an eligible battery system. Under this program, registered residents and business owners can receive incentives such as interest-free loans to install solar batteries.

Per the ACT Government, the current battery rebate is $3,500 (excluding GST) or 50% of the battery price (excluding GST) – whichever figure is lowest.

If you’re considering battery storage, it’s important to keep your options open and choose an accredited retailer that is right for you.

Eligibility for the ACT Next-Gen Energy Storage Program

To be eligible for a rebate, your newly-installed battery system must be:

  • connected to the electricity grid,
  • attached to solar panels, and
  • A new battery that is not already supported by the program.

For safety reasons, energy systems must also comply with ACT guidelines and legislation. Keep in mind that in order to claim the rebate, your energy storage system needs to be a part of the Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) approved list.

Storing power from solar panels can help you save on energy bills while supporting renewable energy. If you want to read more about other programs offered in ACT, simply fill in your details in the form above to receive a free copy of our guide to solar rebates and incentives in ACT.
